Legrees wounded by the people in the Great House are cared for by their fellow rabbits. All survive. Long-Eared Zingle calls for a corageous return to rescue Ashley and Willa Wabbit. Long a lazy, irresponsible slob, Zingle has become a patriot and hero.

Ashley Cooper-Legree stands on the threshold of the Great House, daring greatness. At least he is exceedingly well-dressed for the occasion and has remembered to remove his hat. He is a rabbit of reason for all seasons.

When the Cooper-Legrees entered the cellar to fight the Barkin Bugger-Legrees (for eating up the food) the Bad Bitin Bustin-Legrees crept out of the darkness growling and hissing, their vicious eyes gleaming.
